Linear A.
Ancient language, lost to the modern day. Largely undecipherable.

Get nondeterministic!

So this got me to thinking . . . what if machines do have a subconscious of their own? What if machines right now are like human babies, which have brains but no way of expressing themselves except screaming (crashing)? What would a machine's subconscious look like? How does it feed off what we give it? If machines could talk to us, what would they say?

reviewing the top 200 tracks of the p2k decade in music, d-a

lessons learned re: my prejudices and peccadiloes

  • awful vocals kill a track dead. (the case for purely instrumental music.)
  • prettiness over ugliness
  • unless it’s a cool ugliness
  • dancey retroisms over rockist retroisms
  • electronics make anything more fun
  • dance music over all
  • europeans need to leave rnb and hiphop to the americans
  • americans need to leave dance music to the europeans
  • turns out the hipster trash (basically any new band being hyped by p4k) i was deliberately ignoring was largely pretty annoying. feel justified.
  • a few gems were uncovered, so it wasn’t a total exercise in bitter curmudgeonism
